Barnes, Lloyd Rendell. August 1, 1954 - August 17, 2015
Passed peacefully away, surrounded by family and friends, Lloyd Rendell Barnes, age 61.
Predeceased by his father Bert Barnes, brother Edgar Barnes, sister-in-law Olga Barnes, foster sister Marion White, nephew Mark Mulcahy; Parents-in-law Malcolm and Edna Dort, step-mother-in-law Catherine Dort, brother-in-law Joseph Dort, sister-in-law Donna Dort, and niece Elizabeth Dort.
Leaving to celebrate his life: mother Olga Barnes; loving wife and dance partner of 38 years Margaret Barnes (nee Dort); daughters: Sarah (Robert Sears) and Heather; and son: David (Amanda). Holding a special place in their hearts for Poppy are grandchildren, Rowan and Declan Sears who will share with their new baby brother or sister all of the great memories they made. Brothers: Linton, Albert (Sandra), Michael Barnes; sisters: Joyce Howe (Spencer), Ann Barrett (Howard), Mary Dawe (Terry), Shirley Tobin; brothers-in-law: Teddy Dort (Jackie), Michael Dort (Mary), John Dort (Lorraine); sisters-in-law: Alice Pemberton (Gordon), Mary Roark and Karen Dort. Lloyd was loved by many and touched so many lives. He loved all children and leaves behind a large number of nieces and nephews who fondly look back at their silly uncle Lloyd with affection. He was a good friend to many, could always be called upon to lend a helping hand or take you for a spin on the dance floor. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the first responders and good Samaritans, doctors, nurses and staff of the Health Science Emergency and Critical Care Unit. Special thanks to Dr. Barry Rose and Lloyd's niece Nancy Ann, and Reverend Wayne Parsons, who helped us through this difficult time. Cremation has taken place. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews, on Thursday, August 20th, 2015 at 10 am - 12 pm, 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm. Funeral service to take place on Friday, August 21st, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist, Topsail, at 10 am. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Lloyd's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Daffodil Place, or a charity of one's choice.
