Obituary of Roger Locke

Roger Locke

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Roger Locke on August 17, 2024, beloved son of Eleanor Locke and the late Frank Locke. Roger was a devoted husband to Barbara Locke for 40 years and was known for his kindness and unwavering love for his family and friends.

Growing up in a close-knit family, Roger shared a deep bond with siblings, Beverly Anthony (and her late husband Bill) and Brad Locke (Jacqui). He was a proud father to Glenn (Ashleigh) and an adoring grandfather to his special grandson, Beckett, with whom he shared countless cherished memories.

Roger is also lovingly remembered by his in-laws. He leaves behind his mother-in-law Audrey Pinsent-Bakke (late husband Gary). Roger was also predeceased by his father-in-law, Samuel Pinsent, and his brother-in-law, Sammy Pinsent. Roger shared a close bond with his sisters-in-law, Darlene Hearn (Pat) and Audrey Clarke (Dave), who were a special part of his life.

Family was important to Roger, and he loved family dinners and took great joy in visiting his son, daughter-in-law and grandson in Calgary, making each trip a memorable adventure filled with laughter and love.  Roger was a beloved uncle to his nieces, nephews, and their children, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Roger’s life was enriched by the companionship of dear friends, especially his lifelong friend and breakfast buddy, Roy Martin.  Roger was passionate about golf, and the camaraderie of his great golfing friends brought him endless joy on and off the course.

In remembering Roger, we honor a life well-lived and one that was filled with love, laughter and lots of wing nights with the “GDL’s”.  His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Cremation has taken place, and a private celebration of Roger’s life will be held at a later date. The family kindly invites those who wish to honor his memory to consider donating tothe Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada, or to take a moment to reflect on a special memory they shared with Roger.
