Christopher Pomroy

Obituary of Christopher Pomroy

Pomroy, Christopher Donald, age 32 years

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden, peaceful passing of our beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend Christopher Donald Pomroy. He is leaving to mourn his devoted parents Tony and Janette, siblings and best friends Samantha (Nathan) and Tony, as well as his little buddy, nephew Everett. Also left to mourn are his grandmother Violet Pomroy and a large circle of dear aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends including special friends Seth and Gabe and their families. Christopher was predeceased by his hero, Poppy Donald Pomroy, Nanny Louise Coates, and Cousin Jillian Jewer.

Christopher was an outdoorsman who loved spending his time fishing, hunting, and searching for cool rocks. He spent much of his childhood making memories camping and at the cabin in Salmonier with his family and the Humby’s. Chris also spent much of his childhood side-by-side with best friend Seth, and he was lucky to visit Seth in Spain multiple times in the last few years. During one of these trips, he accomplished a “bucket list item” - skydiving. He was a thrill seeker by nature; Chris also loved his motorcycles and his riding buddies with whom he had many great adventures. HIs love of the outdoors was an interest he took forth into his studies with the completion of his B. Sc. in Earth Sciences (Geology) from which he graduated in 2015 along with his sister. Many lifelong friendships were forged during his time at MUN as well as during his time working in various positions after graduation, including at the CRA. He was fiercely loyal to every friend and family member he had and would never see someone stuck if he could help them out. He was a great shoulder to cry on and would always lend a listening ear if someone needed it. He had a love of music and music festivals and had some great fun attending the Tomorrow World festival with his special cousin, Charlene. Chris's catchphrase “I'm going on an adventure!” became a staple during their time together at the festival and will remain a part of the family vernacular for years to come. We will especially remember him during our family reunions in Merasheen, a place he held very dear to his heart.

Our family would like to extend our most heartfelt thanks to Jason Penney, the emergency responders, Jennifer Pittman, and staff of the emergency room and ICU at the Health Sciences Centre; we truly believe that he was cared for by the most competent and caring team we could have asked for. Special thanks to Drs. Goodfellow and O'Brien as well as the organ donation team for your care and compassion during this harrowing ordeal. It is a bright light in our sorrow that Christopher was able to give the gift of organ donation to four separate people and their families in large part due to the care he received from every single person listed above. We will hold onto this knowledge to carry us through the difficult days ahead.

Visitation will occur at Hickey's Funeral Home in Kelligrews on Sunday, March 10th from 3 pm to 7 pm and Monday, March 11th from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm with a Celebration of Life to follow in the chapel at Hickey's at 2:00 pm.
