Just a short, but fond memory of both Marcelle and Steve Sr. at the opening of the Interpretive Centre. It seems a long time back, but is still very clear to us. He left in the bus without breakfast, being very excited, and Marcelle was worried about him. She arrived at our door and we left immediately for the site. Arlene had tried to get him a coffee, but he wouldn't, and we found him, got a nurse, got him water, and Marcelle was attentive to him. Always they were so committed!
Marcelle told us about learning English, in Newfoundland (imagine) as a bride, by using the newspaper and sitting with Steve Sr. in their bed, in their bedroom, and going over the words. Such love, such dedication and determination to make it work. We so admired them both.
If Steve and Kathy read this, tell them we miss them and we have lost contact and regret it. We send our dear love to them and to their children.
