My sincere condolences go to the family of Leo Bishop. His courage in the face of illness was outstanding and I will long remember his friendship. I was not able to get to the funeral home with the other veterans as I had a doctor's appointment. John Adams

Effie, Richard & family...Thinking of you today as you celebrate uncle Leo's life. My family had the pleasure of his wonderful company since Oct. as you know but yet we felt he was our friend for much longer. He often shared his chair & space in his room when we would visit dad with great pleasure. I will miss his greeting me with "hello sweetie" on my daily visits. We always admired his independence and fought to keep it to the end. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Uncle Leo is smiling down on you today with pride and i'm sure is happy to be at peace with no more pain. This is a little something I read recently and thought I'd share with you: God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. May all the treasured memories you have of uncle Leo help you through this difficult time. Best Regards, Mary, Reg, John and family.

Janice Brushett posted a condolence

Dear Effie and Family: I would like to offer condolences to you and your family on the loss of a truly wonderful individual Leo. My name is Janice Brushett and I met Leo 3 years ago when I was a Recreation student at the Pavilion. Little did I know I would meet some of the finest individuals I have ever had the pleasure of knowing during that time. Leo and I instantly became friends. It seems there were so many things we had in common despite our age difference. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting and talking with Leo and it seemed we never ran out of things to talk about. I live on the Burin Peninsula and each time I visited the city I always dropped by to say hi to my special friend. My last visit was 2 weeks ago and although you could clearly see the pain on his face he had a smile and greeting of "how's my gal" especially for me. Something inside me told me as I was preparing to leave that day it would be my last conversation with Leo. Before I left I gave him a big kiss and hug and held him a little closer. I will always remember that moment. God speed to you my dear friend. I know someday we will meet again. I have included my email address and would appreciate it if you would email me your address as I would like to forward a mass card to you and your family. May God bless you all.
