Obituary of Chris Paul Davis

Chris Paul Davis - It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Chris, a loving partner, father, grandfather and friend due to complications from surgery on November 28th; age 63. Leaving to mourn the love of his life Mary Morgan, son Chris (Kerri-Lynn) of C.B.S., daughter Jennifer (Brian) Hewitt of Lunenburg, NS (and their mother Beverley Gleeson), step daughter Jan Morgan of C.B.S. Chris had three precious granddaughters who always brought a smile to his face and whom he adored, Mackenzie Morgan, Jessica Davis (mother Connie Davis) and Natalie Hewitt. Predeceased by his parents Capt. John and Grace Davis and sisters Marie Quinn & Ruby Davis. Also left to mourn his loss; sister Bette (John) Powell of Mount Pearl, brothers Thomas (Marjorie) of Topsail, Cal (Maureen) of St. John's, long time friend Harold Porter, special nephew Todd Davis as well as many nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends, colleagues and team mates. Chris was a man who loved his family dearly. He will be remembered by many for his larger than life laugh and witty sense of humor. His true passion for life was found at "The Cabin" in Millertown surrounded by his closest buddies doing what he enjoyed the most; hunting, fishing and plowing over the snowy trails on his snowmobile. We are extremely grateful that he just returned from his last successful hunt and "time" at the cabin prior to his surgery. Chris loved flipping steaks on the barbeque with a beverage in hand and there was always extra on the grill in case any visitors stopped by for a feed and a few sociables. He loved having a crowd around the table during the weekends spilling yarns or sitting out around the fire pit listening to tunes and sharing some laughs. His love and interest for sports was known by all who knew him. It was a common occurrence to witness every television in the house playing a different sports channel so he could easily get the scores of the current games to compare against his pro-line ticket. Chris coached and played many sports during his life. He played at the local and provincial level in both hockey and softball and could often be found sharing memories of his hockey performance in Saskatoon at the 1971 Canada Games. He was very proud that granddaughter, Jessica, followed in her poppy's footsteps and wore the same number #10 for female hockey during the most recent Canada Games in Prince George. The family would like to send special thanks to the staff of the St. Clare's ICU for their support and comfort during this heartbreaking time. Visitation and a celebration of his life will be held in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Chris's memory to the Ronald McDonald House or to a charity of one's choice.
