I'm so sorry to hear of Reg's passing. I lost touch with Reg over the years but I did speak to him about a year ago at No Frills...needless to say we must've chatted for an hour. Reg could easily chat....from one topic to the next. His demeanor never changed a bit...always with that smile and that gentle, calm voice. Reggie was one of my earliest childhood friends and we spent many days racing our bicycles around the main and side roads of Upper Gullies. As it commonly occurs, life took us in different directions but I did run into him on a few occasions in recent years. We would chat about our friendship and boyhood dreams from those many years ago. He was still indeed the same gentle soul I knew from those distant days. Condolences to the Family. God Speed Mr Canning.

I met Reg in the mid 70’s when I came home to live with my Aunt Enid on Middle Bight Road.
Reg always met you with a smile & a chat. Reg was a kind, gentle man with a heart of gold who would offer help to everyone & anyone he knew. He would give you the shirt of his back if it would help you, that is the type of man he was.

Despite his health issues I never saw him without a pleasant smile upon his face. I met him a few times throughout the years and his wonderful demeanour had not changed. Rest in peace Reggie.
