My deepest condolences to all of the Slaney family. We were so sad to hear the news of your mom’s passing. Joan was such a friendly and loving woman. Every time I would come home for a visit, your mom always made sure to come out to the front step and call out to me and ask how I was doing. It was always so great catching up with her and to hear about how the family was doing. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. My mom would also like to let you know that she is thinking about you all and sends her love.

Goodbye Aunt Joan,
Sadly, I only got to really know you when I was home from Waterloo, On to visit Dad. The time we spent last summer when I came to visit you was very special to me. The distance that you lived from us, made it hard to get to know you. But those hours we spent together at the seniors home made up for the time that we didn't. I really wish we could have had more time to talk. I know that your wish was to be with Uncle Bob and I hope you are happy together in eternity. May God give his grace to you and your family. Rest in peace my dear aunt Joan. Until we see each other again!
Love,
Larry

I saw my dear Aunt Joan just three weeks ago. I was so happy to have seen her along with my cousin John to say farewell to my darling Aunt. To me she was kindness, love, and bedevilment. She had a magnificent voice, she loved music, and a time. As she aged she most resembled her mom my darling grandmother Mini. I always loved so much to see her and my Uncle Bob (God rest him, there was a wonderful man), I could feel this energy of warmth and kindness just envelope me when I was around them. To my cousins, I am so sorry for such a tremendous loss, I feel it too. Aunt Joan, thank you for making such an important impact on my life.

My deepest condolences to Vaughan, John, Betty, Annette, and Craig and to your entire families as well as Aunt Joan’s siblings and their families. Aunt Joan and I had a very special relationship as I was the oldest grandson of Nan and Pop Brenton and I spent a lot of time with them as a baby and my younger years. When I was a child as I was sitting on aunt Joan’s lap I pulled a cup of hot tea over myself and scald my upper body. I guess it was spoke about so many times in my life it became etched in my memory. Aunt Joan was so upset as she had to take me to the hospital. She always talked about it as she felt so bad about it. I enjoyed every visit and conversation we had over the years. The few times I visited her in Wabush she couldn’t do enough for me. She was a very special aunt. I loved her dearly and I’m sure the feeling was mutual.
RIP Aunt Joan. You will always be in my memory and truly missed.
Kip.

Condolences to the Slaney and Brenton families as you morn the loss of Joan..
I only met Joan once with my friend, Netta Budgell. I soon realized that she was a special lady, very articulate, kind, caring, and family oriented.
As I soon discovered, she knew so many wonderful people from St.Lawrence who I was fortunate to know as well.
Netta lived in Wabush in the same neighborhood as Joan. Like so many others, Netta was touched by Joan’s friendship and caring attitude..
May all Joan’s beautiful memories be preserved and shared amongst all her family and extended relatives.
I am sure everyone that had the privilege of knowing her will have many memories of this wonderful lady.
R.I.P. Joan

Vaughn, John, Betty, Annette, Craig and families. Please accept our most sincere condolences of the passing of your dear mother.
Your mom was an amazing woman. We all know that. Xoxox She was all about family, so kind and her unconditional love was evident. She was always kind to me and my son back in the day 35 years ago to be exact when Mitchell ( Minnow) was born. She was always there for us her and Bob. Who we affectionally called " JoanBob" because that's how Mitchell referred to them equally :)).
We have many great memories from that household!!! It's so sad to see her leave but I know she's at peace now with Bob, her love whom she missed dearly. Our hearts go out to your family now and always. Please take care! R.I.P JoanBob xoxoxo
