Aunt Mary, my cousins and extended family and friends, as I sit her writing this morning you are in church for a final farewell to Uncle Kevin. A man who has lift a legacy of how to live your life. He was a man who was adored and loved by all who knew him, a gentle,kind person who walked quietly among us and yet made such a lasting impression. His and Aunt Mary's family home was so welcoming and open to all their extended family and friends(and their friends). Uncle Kevin was a wonderful host, taxi/bus driver, tour guide, leftover cook and bottle washer, plus a soft shoulder to lean on. (Sorry couldn't give him Chief cook because I cannot recall one vague memory of him cooking,(ha) however what was in the fridge or cupboards he happily shared). I can truly vouch for the above as I stayed with this family for 9 months when I attended trade school at Seal Cove, from that time I have many wonderful memories of the family and specific ones of Uncle Kevin. I was treated like one of his own, if he though I was making some wrong decisions, he sat me down for a talking too. He arranged for Kim and I to have a train ride around the bay before it closed out in NL and one of my fondest memories was attending the opening of the CBS stadium with him as Aunt Mary was working that night, he was going to be helping out in one of his many volunteer aspects and I had just turned 19 -legal age, so he invited me to tag along. We sat with his and Aunt Marys friends and while he was busy running the raffles and mixing with his friends, he took the time to dance with me a few times and attempted to learn me the waltz/two-step; I was so honored, similar to a daughter who dances with her father on her wedding day. We arried home just as Aunt Mary finished work and sat up and told her all about the event she had missed. I will always treasure the time I spent with them. I had gotten in just a few days before he passed, thank you for sharing some of the little time you had left with him, with me. I am very happy I got to see most of you and spend a little time reminiscing. At this very moment my heart is there - God Bless - you called one of the finest - Dad.
