Obituary of Charmaine Summers

Summers, Charmaine Linda

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Charmaine on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with many illnesses.

Charmaine lived a life of selfless devotion to her family, friends and church. She never failed to let her family know how deeply they were loved. She touched the lives of many of us as she never missed sending a Birthday, Anniversary and Christmas card to her huge family and many friends. Always signed: “Lots of Love and Laughter”. This is a precious memory so many of us will share for many years ahead.

Her kindness extended to her community as Charmaine and her husband Bob committed endless hours of collecting recyclables and donating all proceeds to charities such as Ronald McDonald House, The Gathering Place and many more. Always being aware of the less fortunate.

Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many loving members of the Dialysis team at the Topsail Road Centre and the community care nurses of CBS, who went above and beyond for many years of caring for Charmaine. We would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital in the ICU and Special Care Units for their compassion and exceptional care of Charmaine during her stay there. In addition, special thank you to Pastor Harold Andrews.

Predeceased by her parents: Harry Summers and Josephine Oakley and stepfather: Andrew Oakley.

Thankful for her life and love are her husband: Robert (Bob) Baker and his sons: Bobby, Greg and their families. Bob and Charmaine’s love and devotion over the past 20 years ensured their quality of life was not overshadowed by her illness.

Charmaine also leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories are her siblings: Harry (Gail), John (Justina), Betty (Karl), David (Margie), Joanne, Jim (Sharon), Albert (Carolyn), extended stepfamily: Barbara (Gordon), Peggy, Debbie, Darlene, Mark.

Charmaine leaves behind a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and longtime treasured friends. Also, leaving to mourn are nieces, nephews who adored their awesome “Aunt Mainey”.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, March 21st, 2024, at 11 am at Victory Christian Centre, 10 Pearl Place, St. John’s. Private interment to follow.
