Obituary of Ann Johnson
The family of Ann Marie Johnson (nee Byrne) announces the passing of their beloved wife, mother, aunt and friend on October 25, 2023. Ann passed away peacefully in her Holyrood home with her husband of 59 years, Francis, and her son Philip by her side. Predeceased by her parents Bridget (nee Bromley) and Stephen Byrne.
Leaving to celebrate her life, daughter Christine, son Philip (Tammy Allingham), granddaughter Shaniece and her pride and joy great-grandson David Wright (father Adam Wright).
Left to remember her with fondness are her sisters, Kathleen Flynn, Frances Joy (Hubert) and Josephine Tilley as well as members of the Byrne and Johnson families including numerous nieces and nephews, especially her special niece, Joan Wakeham. Her circle of friends and neighbours will miss her dearly including best friends Cathy Keating and Sarah Lewis.
Ann was a prayerful woman who had great strength and faith throughout her life and that carried her during difficult times including her recent illness. She was gentle, soft spoken and stoic in all seasons of life. She loved a game of cards, bingo night and a hot cup of tea. She so looked forward to her Tuesday night card game with friends.
Ann wanted to be sure we extended her gratitude to her medical team including Drs Sutton, Powell, Larson, Brake and Manning as well as the Palliative and Community health teams in Holyrood including nurses Chelsea and Paula. Special thank you to her caregivers, her husband Francis, friend Sarah, and sister-in-law Margaret Snow, for your attentiveness and support. The compassion and care demonstrated to Ann, particularly during her final days, was so very appreciated by Ann and the Johnson family.
