I want to extend my sincerest condolences to the Dixons and to all of Peggy’s other family members and friends. It was truly sad to hear of Peggy’s passing. I remember her well from high school days in Baie Verte, her intelligence, vitality, happy attitude, and interests in so many areas. My wife Lynn met Peggy only briefly, but was left with similar impressions of her. I’m sure everyone who knew Peggy will have such good memories of her and will miss her greatly.

I wanted to write and say how very sorry I am. I will be unknown to you- I shared a room with Peg at Guelph university when I was just starting and she was well on her way to a career in entomology - something I had never heard of. We had a great time and I learned to love David Bowie, science fiction and bugs, with hours spent testing Peggy’s knowledge of proper names and amusing me with the characteristics of bugs - who knew they could be interesting. We stayed in touch as we both moved on and around the world. I saw her in the UK and she came to Australia for a conference and we had a very fast trip down the Great Ocean Road. We have been coming to visit for years but not quite getting past my family in Ontario. I am sorry - sorry we didn’t meet, so sorry for your loss and so sorry to lose such a wonderful human way too soon. Our thoughts and sympathy are with you.

to all of Peggy's family especially Mike, James and Caleigh we send our heartfelt sympathy at this sad time. I took Peggy's position with AAFC at Kentville after she left for Ottawa and once we met, we become fast friends and valued colleagues as we shared our experience with agricultural research in the federal service. She introduced me to Newfoundland, including some of the food - cod tongues anyone? And, she was always up for new adventures. Gord and I both valued her friendliness, positive attitude and big smile. May knowing that others feel her loss and hold dear memories of time with Peggy help you during this time of loss. our thoughts are with you all at this time.

Peggy will be missed terribly. My heart felt condolences to her family and all that knew her. My first memory of her is at the registration desk at the Canadian Entomology Society meeting in St John's in 1988. A warm and friendly smile greeted me and we were friends right from the start. Over the years she has provided advice on many things. I was leaving to attend U of Edinburgh for my PhD in 1997 and since Peggy did her PhD there, she was able to give me some great advice before I left.

My heartfelt condolences to Peggy's family, you have lost an amazing woman way too soon. I met Peggy in Quito Ecuador as we shared a room prior to the Galapagos trip. I loved her the minute we met and we had so much fun together on that trip so we shared a room again on the Amazon extension. She brought laughter to every situation and taught us all so much about bugs. I was the photographer trying to capture all the bugs for her, the darn bee was the hardest!
I had hoped to visit Peggy in NFLD as it's the only province I haven't visited but we always think there is more time. I truly regret not making it a priority but Covid did put a halt for 3 years on your travels.
Everyone who met Peggy knows how loving and friendly she was and I am so blessed to call her my friend.

We are greatly saddened to hear of Peggy's passing, and offer our sincere condolences.
As regular attenders at national entomological meetings, our meetings were greatly enriched whenever Peggy was also in attendance. She was so open, friendly, and upbeat, even in the decade or so since her cancer diagnosis.
She worked very hard for the entomological community: she organized international research groups and participated in leadership of the Entomological Society of Canada as a Director and President, She was always willing to help out in any way that was asked of her.
We have lost a valued friend and fellow scientist.

Mike, James, Caleigh, the Dixon & Sweeney family,
Peggy was such a kind hearted, humble women who left a beautiful impression ever time you had the pleasure to be in her company. She lived life to the fullest, making her time with her family the most precious time. Her love for nature and all creatures from the ground beneath her to the stars above was truly inspiring. When most people would cringe at the bugs, she would want to protect them and try and convince you of their good. We had a few interesting conversations over the years about all that creeps and crawls.
You are at rest now, I’m sure you are curious about the world beyond. We will think of you when we look at the beautiful stars above.

Mike, James. Calleigh, the Dixon family I’m devastated to hear of Peggy’s passing this morning, I worked with Peggy for many years and she was always caring, loving and a true friend. I spoke to her last Christmas and we promised to meet for coffee but circumstances did not present a time for this to happen. I’ll miss our chats although I now know they were too infrequent. My sincere condolences to all family and friends (as I know she had many) she was loved by all she met. RIP Peggy and rise in glory. You’ll never be forgotten .

To The Dixon Family;
I was saddened to hear of Peggy's passing today.
Although we haven't kept in touch, only seeing each other occasionally in Baie Verte, I will always remember the many hours I spent playing with Peggy at the Dixon or the Thistle houses on High Street, those were some wonderful times!!
My sincere condolences to Mr & Mrs Dixon, Bob & families. May your happy memories of Peggy give you peace and comfort during this challenging time.

I've been reading all the kind words and condolences about Peggy on line. It shows just how loved she was. I met Peggy in grade 3 I believe. When she was introduced to our class I thought she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen, and as the years went by and we became close friends as kids, that opinion of her never changed. Peggy was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Thanks for shining your light on me my dear, rest easy now. My most sincere condolences to all her family and friends.

My sincere condolences to all friends and family of Peggy. She was a wonderful friend and mentor growing up, and I always loved popping in to visit throughout the years. Peggy was the kindest, most generous person, and I am so grateful to have had her in my life from such a young age. Sending all my love to her family❤️

Peggy was my best friend. She adopted me when we worked at Agriculture around 1990, at a time when friends were scarce, the knives were out for me. It was the worst time in my life and Peggy saved me. We had many adventures, visits...she even has her own bedroom in my house. I love her spirit, humour, intelligence, friendliness, just everything about her. We have lost a true angel and Heaven has a new one. Mike and family i am so sorry. There are no words. Just many hugs.

Darling Peggy, what a wonderful human being! We worked together in the Avalon Dragons and I don’t think I have ever met a nicer person. I remember when she came home from her dream trip to the Galapagos
and her pictures were all of huge spiders the size of your hand and
insects as long as your arm, and also her excitement when her book on insects of NL that she wrote with colleagues was published. My
condolences to Mike, James, Caleigh, her Mom & Dad and the remainder
of her family. We will miss her.
