Mary, Paul Jr & Thelma.
For at least 60 years, since Paul captured Mary’s heart, and despite many separations by working requirement distances and episodes he was a major part of our lives. What stands out as his legacy to me was his ethic for hard work, love for his Family and a remarkable sense of a joie de vivre and kindness to all, despite many incredible hardships.
He truly loved work as shown by his demanding back breaking life in land scaping, wood cutting, mining, gardening, fish-filleting, carpentry, labourer and as a Jack of all trades..all for his Family. He also truly loved the NL outdoors. He pursued each passion from trouting, berry-picking, bird & moose-hunting, cod & all other fish species harvesting efforts with the zeal of his many beloved beagles. And through it all he spared no effort to use whatever modern or rigged tool, craft, or means to ensure success and add to his considerable harvest trophies. Most of all and remarkably too, he loved sharing his hard-earned bounty and in having some fun too. One never left his / your house without a meal, or a large sample of his considerable harvest. And you likely shared a song, a joke and a pint or a wee dram or both!
Ease the sorrow of his passing through his good memories. And rest assured he’ll be watching with love from afar.
Well done Paul, thank you brother, RIP, you’ve earned a great rest.
