Glenys O' Brien (Hennessey- Dawe)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, age 67 years. Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her family, at the Leonard A Miller Center Palliative Care Unit, on Sep 16th, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her parents, Matthew and Nellie Hennessey, brothers:  Robert, David and Paul, sister: Madonna Reid, and nephew: Todd Hennessey. Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories her husband Bill, children:  Darlene (Blaine Clowe), Emily and Sarah, Billy (Candance) Hunter and Easton, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Walker, and their Father Bill Dawe, Darren (Jennifer), Gia, Delina, AJ, Nathaniel (Mandy), Connor and Daniel, Sheena (Jason Tobin) Hailey, Jade, Ethan and Drake, Billy (Lynn), Lorali, Destiny and Ezra. Glenys is also survived by her sisters: Deneal (Noel) and Judy, nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart, as well as a large number of family and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and support team of the Palliative Care Unit for your professionalism, kindness, and compassion. The nursing and medical team made the last 111 days much more bearable knowing we had the best team taking care of mom.  Also, our heartfelt thanks to Deneal, Judy, Helen, Carol-Ann, Betty, Leona Sharon, Maureen and Amelia who stayed by her side, tending to her every need. Giving your time so freely will never be forgotten. A sincere thank you to Reverend Jean, whose visits, chats and prayers helped us all through this difficult journey. Mom had a huge heart, she loved her family dearly, enjoyed a game of cards, loved to laugh, a good sing along and an old fashioned waltz. But most importantly Mom loved Bill endlessly. He was her rock, her partner, her best friend.  Bill was her caretaker, and so much more. The love and devotion they had for each other is a true testament for marriage, and is something to be admired. As per Mom's wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation  will be on Monday, September 20th, from 12:00noon - 4:00pm at Hickeys Funeral Home, Kelligrews. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Holyrood.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Janeway Children's Hospital, Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or a charity of one's choice. Due to COVID restrictions, a private funeral service is planned on Tuesday September 21st, 2021 at 11am.
