Fred, so sorry to hear of Gaynor's passing. We didn't know that she had been sick until we saw the death notice in the Telegram. Gaynor was a very beautiful person; she was a great co-worker and everyone was her friend. We are happy for the times that we have spent with you both. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

As a little girl I spent a fair amount of time in the Power household with my sister Laurie and brother-in-law Shawn. I was always welcomed with open arms. Gaynor would meet me in the door with a warm hug, a huge bright smile, a bag of goodies, a coloring book and crayons to match which ever holiday was closest to my visit. Gaynor was such a beautiful person. It seemed that she was always laughing, especially when Fred would call me Paula Abdul and make me sing every time i would visit! She introduced me to pumpkin pie one particular thanksgiving that i spent with the family,(homemade of course)as well as her famous lasagna which she made often because it was Shawns favourite. I feel so blessed to have had the chance to get to know Gaynor and to have let her love of life touch me. My heart hurts for the family and for every tear they cry at this difficult time. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. Gaynors spirit and memory will live on through those that meant so much to her. You all have a brand new guardian angel watching over you! All my love now and always...

Dear Aunt Gaynor, Thank you for being such a special family member and part of our lives while we were growing up on Legion Rd. You always made me laugh, were a great cook and made the best chocolate chip cookies!! I always loved that you and Uncle Fred lived across the street from us. You were generous and honest and I love how much you cared for and loved animals. I am so happy that I saw you recently on a beautiful evening in August. The sun finally came out, you looked so beautiful that day! Sleep with the angels and watch over us until we see you again... With love, Kelley xoxo

Rossini and I would wish to send the Power Family our heartfelt sorrow. I can personally recall being in her presence, or on the telephone, and her sense of humour was always prevalent. She always made me feel at home, whenever I would visit. She will most assuredly be missed. Our Lord is caring for her now, and she is safely in his arms.

To Gaynor's family: I have just lost a long time friend of mine from The Island. Gaynor and I went to school together from kindergarten on. I will always remember her sense of humour and her funny escapades. There was never a dull moment when you were with her. Goodbye Old Friend. My deepest sympathy to Fred and her family.

My condolences go out to all her family. I'm sure she was a very special mother as she was a very special friend. Gaynor and I became friends in grade nine when we attended St. Boniface High School, and remained friends until we graduated in 1966. I went away to Toronto and started working at CIBC who happened to be hiring at the time, so I contacted Gaynor and I think she was on the next plane. We worked at the same branch and got an apartment together. We had so many fun times, we roller skated a lot,and were late for work a lot, out just about every night partying, but mostly rollerskating. But we had our little spats too. One time she went to visit her Aunt Marie that lived in Rexdale and she came home with a pie. She went out that same evening and I stayed home as I was having a few friends over. Since there was nothing else to eat we decided to help ourselves to about half the pie (I think it was blueberry). Anyway the next morning I was all ready for work having my coffee waiting for Gaynor to get ready then she comes out of the bathroom and went to the fridge to take some pie to take with her to work. Well, don't say she wasn't mad !!! She said, quote, "you want pie? Here, you got pie !!! And threw the rest of it in my face ! For sure we were late for work that morning ! We had a few good laughs about that many times after. Gaynor probably would have stayed in Toronto if she hadn't broken her leg. One day, I stayed home from work with the flu or something, Gaynor went, but when she was expected home around 6 she didn't show up, I was worried sick. Then around 9 p.m. a knock came on the door and there she was on crutches, her leg broken and she was accompanied by a cop. Apparently, he was the one who picked her up when she slipped on ice outside the bank. The bank was across the street from a homeless shelter and it was dark and people just figured she was drunk and homeless. So after that her parents sent her the money and she went home and married her true love, Fred. Gaynor was a beautiful soul, inside and out. Her smile seemed to light up the day. Even though we haven't been in touch for a long time, I will always remember Gaynor. Rest in peace my friend. Provie (Sheppard) Cribbin
